Ray Kimber and company have spent years developing high quality plugs and IEC connectors. Particular attention is paid to the type of connection - strong, reliable. The Wattgate™ 350i Construction is durable and features an fine polycarbonate rear housing available in either black or clear styles. A very durable hi-temperature rated front housing is included as part of the design. Created to accept a wide range of wire, the Wattgate 350's removable clamping insert can accommodate cable diameters from 0.300" (7.62mm) to 0.655" (16.63mm). Clear markings, tightly-spaced, funnel shaped holes guide individual conductors into the uniquely designed Perma-Lock™ terminals for simple installation. The Perma-Lock™ terminals work tightening the terminal screw down on the contact tang, compressing the wire underneath the tang and causing the screw to exert an upwards lift on the collar overleaf. The lifting action "locks up" the thread on the screws. Stress on the terminals is virtually eliminated. Heat cycling and vibration cannot loosen the screw. The departure that the 350 takes from traditional IECs, lies within the contact elements themselves. Contacts on the 350 are large and designed for a high spring rate to securely grip the conductor. A three-layer plating process is also used: Oxygen free copper plating, electrolysis nickel, and finally 24k gold plating dramatically improves conductivity and prevents corrosion. Plugs are cryogenically treated, rated at 125 VAC, 15A, and accept up to 10 gauge wire.
